The Portuguese tactician led the Pharoahs to four consecutive draws at la C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire\u2019s second Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The seven times African champions suffered defeat on penalties to semi-finalists, the Democratic Republic of Congo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Captain, Mohamed Salah, was absent for the elimination through injury. Earlier Salah had said that he wanted Rui Vitoria to stay, but the legendary Hassan Shehata, the only coach in AFCON history to win the title thrice in succession (2006, 2008 and 2010) demanded the departure of the Portuguese tactician. Shehata wants a local coach because he would know Egyptian football and its players and would therefore be able to get the best out of them.
